The Orme Genealogy website was first Launched in 2002 by Andrew Orme, under the 'orme.ws' domain, and then moved to 'orme.uk' in November 2025.
This website was born out of a deep passion for uncovering and preserving the heritage of the Orme name.
Our Origins
Andrew Orme began his journey into genealogy while researching his family name on the internet in 2002. Recognizing a gap in accessible, comprehensive resources for Orme family history, Andrew created the Orme Genealogy website, where Orme descendants and researchers could come together, share information, and build a collective understanding of their ancestry.
Ancestry DNA
In 2021, Andrew also used AncestryDNA to trace his origins from over 2,600 regions around the world. Take a look at the region estimate they created for him.
The Contributions of Stephen Orme
Much of the foundational information that enriches this website was generously provided by Stephen Orme in 2002, who hosted 'orme.org.uk' many years ago. His extensive research and dedication have been invaluable. Stephen's contributions have helped shape Orme Genealogy into the robust and detailed resource.
